Construction - Reediting (Digipak and Magazine)

In the time that I had today, I spent it re-editing the texts that I had already created. The first text that I spent the time making adjustments to was the digipak. The digipak needed the most changes due to the reason that the draft had only three of the six pages of the digipak, which meant it was not formatted in the same way as an exsisting digipak would be. The first change that I made to the apperance to the digipak was the front cover. The thing that got changed on this page was the image that was used on the front. To start of with I had an image of a girl sat on the oak tree, however I decided to change it to the performer. The reason that I decided to swap the pictures is because of the idea that I have seen many different digipaks that have already been created, which typically include the artist on the front, to use them as a selling point to the audience, as well as allowing the image of the performer to link both the music and the different texts to each other.

After changing the images on the front cover of the digipak, I then added an other image to the digipak. The reason for this is because of the idea that I had taken the image of the performer from the artist page, and needed to fill it with another image. The image that I decided to change it to was the oldest woman by the tree. I did this as I thought that this image fitted best with the type of digipak that I am trying to create, as the image links to the others with the idea of having the yellow ribbon in the background, tied to to the tree. Adding this image to the digipak did not take up much time, as it was the case of just trying to find the exact image that I was wanting to use, which then got cropped down to the size that is going to fit.

After switching around the images, I then decided to make sure that I had added the appropriate information to each, this meant adding the songs to the back page, the album title and artists to both the front cover and down the side of the digipak and the song lyrics to another one of the pages.

Once I had made the neccassary changes to the Digipak, I then had to made a few adjustments to the magazine advert. The few things that I had to do to the magazine was change the image of the ribbon in the girls hair and move the feature text. The reason I changed the image is becuase I feel that this image worked better as it has the tree in the background. By having this image I had to move this piece of text as otherwise it would then be covering an important piece of the image.

Construction - Taking Photos

After creating the first draft of the Digipak and Magazine advert, it made me realise that I was lacking images that I was able to use. From this realisation I decided to have a mini photoshoot in order to gather more images. The type of images that I gathered were a range of different ribbons shots, from being in the models hair to hanging on the wall. When taking the images I decided to use different backgrounds, settings and colours to find the perfect image that I was aiming for.

The settings that I used included a change in the shutter speed, which meant that the camera was now set up to take pictures at a slower rate. By changing the speed it meant that I was able to take images with the lights to spell out different words. The images that were taken did not get used on any of the texts that I created, however it was a method that helped me to explore the use of the camera and allowed other ideas to come from it that were used on the digipak.

After changing the speed of the camera, I decided that these types of images were nice to look at, however did not match the type of marketing I was aiming for. This meant that I changed the camera speed back to what it originally was set to and took some images of the model I was using and the ribbon. The shots that I took at this time were more successful as they were the types of images that I was aiming to use. The types of shots that I gathered included many different angles of the ribbons tied in her hair, as the ribbon was something that I wanted the digipak and magazine advert to focus on, as this is a way for the different products to link to one another.

Draft 2 - Digipak

Draft 2 - Music Video

Construction - Re-editing Day 3

The final day of editing was used to make all the final touches. The final touches were to ensure that the clips were in place, and their was no gaps. The final checks were not done properly as a problem of black spaces arose once the video had been uploaded onto YouTube. The reason that the blank spaces had come to life was because I did not fill the whole video with clips. After having this problem it meant that I had to return back to the editing stage of the video to fill the gap. Making these little changes were very easy as it was only one gap in the video, which could be fixed by extending the pan shot. After extending the pan shot, I then had completed the final version of the music video, which meant that the last step was then to export the video and upload it to YouTube.

Construction - Re-editing Day 2

In the time that I had today, I spent it editing. When editing I managed to get the exact order of how I wanted the clips to be, which meant having the lip singing of the performer in time with the song and having the order of the clips. After ensuring that I had the exact order of the videos, I then made the necessary changes to the clips. For the performer clips I made changes by increasing the sharpness to 15.6. The reason I changed the sharpness to the performer was to make them stand out more on the black background that they were against. As well as making changes to the appearance of the clips with the performer, I also adapted the shots at the tree location. The way I adapted these shots were by making them brighter. Changing the brightness allowed me to add the contrast at the end when the older woman is taking the ribbon down, as I used the colouring to show the emotion of the final women through out the video.

Construction - Re-editing Day 1

After the re-filming the final women in the music video the week before, I then went straight into re-editing the video. The way in which I decided to re-edit was by starting up a new document. By creating a new document I was able to take on the previous feedback that was given to me in an easier way, as it meant that I could change the order of the videos and the clips that were being used. The clips that I added were of the location and older woman, and the clips that I changed were of the middle couple. I decided to make changes to clips of the middle couple as I thought the ones that were being used were not very flattering angles and did not fit with what I was trying to portray in the video.

Construction - Refilming

Today I spent a couple of hours re-filming the final women in the music video. The reason that I decided to refilm this character is due to the idea that I feel that costume she wore in the first draft were too casual, and looked to be something that she would wear on a daily basis. As well as this it then takes away from the mise-en-scene that I am trying to create within the music video. The costume change went from black leggings and hoodie to more of a smarter outfit which included a nice burgundy jumper and smart black trousers. Having this change in the costuming for this character made a big impact in the way that the shots looked, as it shows that this is something that I focused more on, as well as the idea that it made her character look more believable.

When re-filming the shots of the older women their was a few problems that we faced. The problems we faced were:
  • The sun was too bright that it made it difficult to see if the shots were in focus and if the characters in the shot were able to be seen
  • Their was a lot of people around the park at the time that we were filming, and a couple of people didn't see that we were filming and walked through a few of the shots
Unfortuanetly we faced a few problems when  we were filming, however they were not major problems which meant that we were able to deal with the couple of issues. Having to deal with these issues only meant that we had to take extra shots, and spent longer filming the shots that I needed. Other than staying longer to flm the shots, it didn't make any other impacts to the overall video, as we managed to ensure that we had the shots that were needed.

After gathering the few shots that were needed of the final women in the video, I then made the most of having the ribbons tied around the tree and gathered some location shots. When gathering the location shots I didnt manage to remember each specific shot that I needed, and unfortuanetly forgot to get a shot of the tree with the ribbon on without any people in the shot, however I still managed to get other location shots that worked wel in the music video.
