Narrative:
The music video Malibu has been created to show the new invented Miley Cyrus. Previously this artist has gone of the rails, and has not been showing her true self in her video. The video that has been created is Malibu. The reasoning behind this video is the idea that the artist and her fiance both live in Malibu, as it is talking about how the two of them got back together after spending a little bit of time apart.

One camera technique that is being used in the music video 'Malibu' is the idea of close ups. In the video their is a lot of close up used of the artist. The artist is seen to be the only person that is in the video, which suggests that they are trying to focus the video on the artist as a method of advertisment. Adding onto this, the video is the first of many with her new image, which means that the audience are going to be more interested in seeing the way she is, rather than trying to figure out the narrative of the video. Going into more detail about the use of close ups in the video, it can be seen to make it easier for the audience to be able to see that artists emotion. The emotion throughout the video is showing happiness, as she has had a beaming smile on her face throughout. Having the smile on her face suggestes two different things. The first thing is suggests is the idea that she is having a lot of fun filming this video and wants the audience to be able to see this. The second reason for portraying this emotion is through the idea that she wants to show her audience that she is finally happy again, as she is back together with the love of her life.

The next camera technique that is being used in the music video is the use of a pan. A pan shot is used to show the location. Having this shot type included within the video allows the audience to also be able to experience the beauty of where she is. This type of beauty is showing the natural beauty, suggesting that Miley is trying to show her audience that she is naturally beautiful and does not need to be crazy and out their in order to attract her audience.

Throughout this video editing has been something else that has been used. The way in which editing is being used is through a straight cut. The straight cut is a simple transition from one clip to another that allows the video clips to change. A straight cut is the simplict editing technique, implying that the aim is to not take away from the beauty of the clips that are being used, as the shots have been taken so well, that the audience is going to rather look at what is happening in the video, rather than seeing a wipe randomly throughout the video, as well as this the audience are also going to be more interested in the video, and would rather see what is happening next. Adding on to this the use of a straight cut keeps the theme of the video constant, with it having a classy look to it.

Another editing technique that has been used throughout the video is the idea of overlapping. In this clip their is a clip of balloons that are lightly overlapping a clip of Miley dancing on the beach. The balloons in the clip are used to represent the artists fiance, as the colours of them show how he has brought happiness and joy and lightened up her life.

Mise-en-scene is what can be seen in the video. This includes ideas such as Costuming, Props, Location and Lighting. The first use of mise-en-scene in this music video id the use of costuming. In the beginning of the video Miley is wearing a white dress. This costume is very girly and classy looking, showing the new version of this artist. In previous videos Miley has been wearing something bold, colourful and shorter, whereas this costume is making the artist look more natural and trying to show who she is, rather than hiding behind the costume she is wearing.

The next thing that can be noticed in the video is the idea of location. The locations that are being used included places such as: meadow of wildflowers, under a waterfall and along a sandy beach. The use of these locations is to show the beauty of the world, and to allow the audience to see the girly, pretty and simple side of her life.

Another thing that is noticeable in the video is the idea of props. One of the main props that is used in this video is balloons. The balloons in the video are very simple colours, of which are very vibrant. The use of these colours is showing her personality, as in recent videos the artist has been really crazy and out their, whereas this video is showing what the artist is really about and who she really wants to be.
