The different directors I have been inspired by is:
Brad Wong - Bad 4 U by Imad Royal :
The song Bad 4 U was released on 10th November 2016 by the record company Atlantic.
The video that has been created, mainly focuses on the performance of the artist. In the video their is not a clear narrative for what is meant to be happening, however it is made up with the effects that have been added at the editing stage. One thing that has inspired me is the amount of colour that slowly gets added in to the video. The colour being used makes the video come to life, which makes it seem more interesting and likely to keep the audience hooked to the video.
When looking at the music video that has been created, the ideas that are influencing my final music video is to do with the use of the silhouette of the artist and the shadowing. The reason this is something that I am considering is because it changes the whole view of the final video, making it go from a standard video and transforming it into something of a nicer finish and more pleasing to the eye.
Fred Rowson - Desire by years and years:
The song Desire was released on the 3rd March 2016 under the record company Polydor
Looking at this video, it shows that they thought about the mise-en-scene. The costume and location can be seen to have been planned out thoroughly for the video as the actors are representing their character to the best of their ability.
The video that has been created, has inspired me when it comes to the use of the camera. The way this has inspired me is through the clear, precise shots that have been executed to the audience in the most seamless way possible.
Another idea that has caught my eye is the idea of the clips having an effect added on to them to make them look like they have been whitened. This works as it adds to the finish of the clip and shows that it has been directed to a high standard.
Director X - Hair By Little Mix:
The song Hair was released on the 20th April 2016, by the record company SYCO, Sony
Director X has been in the industry for up to 19 years, and has directed some of the most popular artists videos of the time like: Little Mix, Rhianna and Drake. When looking at the types of videos that have been created by director x, it is seen that the typical editing techniques get included in the video. An example of the editing technique that has been used in the video is a over the shot reverse shot and a four way split screen.
When looking at the video, I have been inspired by the simple shots that have been used. During the video it has been built up of a lot of short clips throughout. The reason for being inspired by this idea means that when it comes to the editing stage of the video, I will have a lot to work with rather than using the same clip over and over again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What I learnt:
- I firstly learnt that looking into others peoples work, makes it easier to see the type of video that I want to make, and what I want to try and avoid
- I also learnt that simplicity in the camera angles works best, but going more elaborate and out their with the editing makes the video overall look better to the audience
- Another thing I learnt is that it looks better if you have a narrative in the video, but include clips throughout of the artist along singing. By doing this it makes the video feel and looks more like a music video. As well as this including someone singing shows more skills as you have to get their lips in time with the song playing.
